AMC Theatres Flips The Switch and Will Now Require All Patrons to Wear Masks

Americans have really fking lost it. Thanks to the leadership of Donnie, Mike Pence, and other top White House officials who have never been seen in public wearing masks, wearing a mask to be responsible during this global pandemic has now turned into a political statement. Experts tell us that data points to masks as an effective and suggested caution to help slow down the spread of coronavirus and protect the folks around us. You would think this is a simple thing to understand, right?

The AME CEO announced re-opening plans Thursday and noted that they would not require patrons to wear masks upon entry because they didn’t want to “get involved in political controversy”. A day after receiving well-deserved social media backlash, the company changed course and said they will now require all guests to wear masks.
AME’s plan to re-open comes at a time when coronavirus cases are spiking across the country.
“We did not want to be drawn into a political controversy. We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary. We think that the vast majority of AMC guests will be wearing masks. When I go to an AMC feature, I will certainly be wearing a mask and leading by example.”
According to Variety, AMC’s re-opening plan will start with locations operating at 30% capacity and will increase in stages.
