Donald Trump has yet again sparked a media firestorm and outrage after announcing via Twitter that the administration will move forward on banning all transgender individuals from military service of any kind. Trump's reasoning was that the government "cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."
Many Americans have taken great offense and shame at this move by the administration. Donald and Ivanka Trump have both made vows to stand by, and protect the LGBT community. Last June, Trump tweeted, "Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs."
Luckily, people on social media are not being silent on this move by the President are vowing to hold him accountable. Organizations like Planned Parenthood and the ACLU have publicly condemned the move by the president, citing it as deeply discriminatory. Many Democratic lawmakers, like Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris, have cited the ban as un-American. Republican Representative Vicky Jo Hartlzer tweeted her support for the ban, "Pleased to hear that @realDonaldTrump shares my readiness and cost concerns, & will be changing this costly and damaging policy #readiness."
This ban just adds to the growing list of controversial moves from the Trump Administration.
