Trump: Racism is Evil, Repugnant

In an unexpected press conference Monday afternoon, Trump finally denounced white supremacy and the KKK by name. Today's press conference was the first time Trump has used such strong language to condemn racism. Donald Trump had previously been receiving backlash from Democrats and Republicans alike for not calling out white supremacy in Charlottesville, Virginia. In his Saturday statement, Trump remarked that he denounced "hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides,", but did not say the words "white supremacy".

Today, Trump took a rather surprising strong approach against racism and white supremacy. Today, Trump stated, "Racism is evil -- and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans," in response to the Charlottesville rally/protest that resulted in the death of one person. Despite Trump's strong statement today, many think it is too little, too late.
