Sh**t always happen to go down in Washington on a Friday. Just think of the Comey firing, Scaramucci firing, Sean Spicer resignation...it's always a Friday. Today, in what may signal a major turning point in Mueller's Trump Russia investigation, former national security advisor Michael Flynn has been charged with making "false, fictitious and fraudulent statements" regarding his conversations and interactions with Russia's ambassador. Flynn is the first former member of the Trump Administration to be charged in relation to the Mueller probe, and the 5th member connected to the campaign to be charged.
Flynn lasted just 24 days in the Trump Administration. He resigned shortly after media reports revealed he lied and misled the Trump Administration about his contacts with Russian ambassadors.
Unsurprisingly, the charge does not make for good optics for Trump's White House. If you haven't been keeping track, here are the names of close Trump team members who have recently been charged with federal crimes: George Papadopoulos, Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, and Michael Flynn.
The important part of Mueller's investigation is getting to who knew what and when they knew it. Was the Trump administration really in the dark about interactions the highest-profile members of the administration had with Russians?
