Trump: 'I Wish' I Did Not Pick Jeff Sessions For Attorney General
By: Kayla Pasacreta
Trump is not afraid to speak out about any one - even his own handpicked cabinet members. In a series of morning tweets, Trump shared comments from Rep. Trey Gowdy (R- S.C.) that were critical of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Not only did he quote the Representative, he agreed with his sentiment that Trump should have picked a different Attorney General:
“And I wish I did!,”
The timing of this tweet is not coincidental - it comes right after the New York Times report detailing Trump's need to have a "loyalist overseeing the (Russian) inquiry". According to the New York Times,
This comes following Trump and Sessions' long embattled relationship. The Russia Investigation has been cited as a major root of tension for Sessions and Trump. The root of their relationship problems often comes back to Sessions decision to recuse himself from the Russia Investigation, a move Trump clearly feels Sessions had no business making. Sessions recused himself after failing to disclose his 2016 meeting with 2 Russian ambassadors in his Senate Confirmation hearing.
This story can easily aide the obstruction of justice case against Trump, as political analysts must determine Trump's pattern of behavior to interfere and with, and even attempt to end the Russia probe.
