In New NBC Interview, Comey Proves He's Not Done Reflecting

In New NBC Interview, Comey Proves He's Not Done Reflecting

By: Kayla Pasacreta

Nearly a year after his May termination last year, former FBI Director James Comey is finally ready to tell his story. In an interview with NBC News that aired Sunday night, Comey said Trump is "morally unfit" to be President, said it is possible that Trump may be vulnerable to Russian blackmail, and said that POTUS treats women like meat. These comments signal Comey's amplifying willingness to take public jabs at Trump.

Major quotes from the interview:

  • Trump [lies]  are so promiscuous that "sometimes he's lying in ways that are obvious, sometimes he's saying things that we may not know are true or false, and then there's a spectrum in between,"

  • "The challenge of this president is that he will stain everyone around him," he said.

  • “I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether the ― the ― current president of the United States was with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow in 2013,”

And what about the emails? Comey has taken to using the public stage to try to describe and defend his handling of the Clinton email investigation. ICYMI, Comey publicly announced just days before the election that the FBI would be re-opening the investigation into Clinton's emails. This, countless people believe, swayed the direction of the election in Trump's favor, damning Clinton's chances of ever maneuvering past the email scandal. Comey said his decision was made with the understanding Clinton would win the election,  "I don't remember consciously thinking about that, but it must have been. I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump. I'm sure that it was a factor. I don't remember spelling it out, but it had to have been. That she's going to be elected president, and if I hide this from the American people, she'll be illegitimate the moment she's elected, the moment this comes out." He went on to say that after scurrying through thousands of Clinton's email, he realized the FBI would not be charging Clinton.

The Comey-Trump feud has escalated the past week as excerpts from Comey's memoir leaked, causing Trump to call out Comey by name in multiple tweets.

The amped up shots between Trump and Comey prove that the nice gloves are off, and both men are willing to do whatever it takes to clean up their Washington reputation.
