Attorney General Jeff Sessions is under fire (again) for making some arguably racially coded comments (again). In a speech to law enforcement today, Sessions stated,
“The office of sheriff is a critical part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement. We must never erode this historic office. I know this, you know this, we want to be partners, we don’t want to be bosses, we want to strengthen you and help you be more effective in your work,”
Sessions made the comment in the midst of applauding the sheriffs for the work and boasting about the future of tougher crackdown on immigration. The prepared script referenced to "legal heritage", but Sessions strayed away from the script and changed it to 'Anglo-American' heritage.
Twitter isn't feeling Sessions comments, and is calling him out on his not-so-sly reference to racist 'Anglo-American heritage'.
This is not the first time Sessions has been accused of being racist. Read about the 1986 letter Coretta Scott King penned, urging Congress to block Sessions' judicial nomination because of his racist history.
