Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi Formally Shuts Down Trump's Planned State of the Union Address

The Pelosi-Trump beef continues. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) remains adamant in her request that Trump’s Jan. 29 State of the Union address must be postponed until the government shutdown is resolved.
Earlier Wednesday, Trump ignored Pelosi’s request to postpone his address. Later in the afternoon, Pelosi responded with a letter, basically telling Trump - not on my watch, sis. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi’s role is to invite Trump to address the nation.
"I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President's State of the Union address in the House Chamber until the government has opened,"
"She doesn't want to hear the truth. She doesn't want the American public to hear what's going on," Trump complained to Cabinet members. "It's a great, great, horrible mark," Trump added. Still, Trump plans to address the nation with an ‘alternate event’ next Tuesday.
