‘Roseanne’ Cancelled After Roseanne Barr Makes Anti-Islamic and Racist Tweets

Roseanne Barr went on a Twitter rant today that resulted in her hit sitcom, “Roseanne”, being cancelled by ABC despite being highly rated. The show, and former star herself, has caused controversy for its pro-Trump values. A well-known conservative, Roseanne Barr, tweeted and then deleted the following: “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby= vj”. “Vj” is in reference to former Barack Obama Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett. This tweet is clearly anti-Islamic and racist which has caused an uproar.
Famous comedian Wanda Sykes is a writer on the show Roseanne and quickly tweeted, “I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC.” After the star’s racist comments.
ABC’s Entertainment President, Channing Dungey, stated: “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values and we have decided to cancel her show.” ABC also hosts a number of inclusive shows such as ‘Blackish’, ‘Fresh Off The Boat’, and ‘Speechless’. Channing Dungey is also the first black woman to head a major network.
Roseanne Barr later apologized and claimed she is leaving Twitter. She quickly learned that screenshots are forever, her show, however, is not.
