Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen has been sentenced to 3 years in federal prison. His sentencing took place in a federal court in Manhattan, and Cohen blamed his actions on “blind loyalty” to his former client Donald J. Trump (Individual 1).
The sentencing came about after Cohen plead guilty to violating campaign finance violations. Cohen violated campaign finance guidelines with his $150,000 hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, to prevent her from speaking out about her allegations of an affair with Donald Trump.
"My weakness can be characterized as a blind loyalty to Donald Trump, and I was weak for not having the strength to question and to refuse his demands,” Cohen told the Court. He also admitted that he was motivated by his own personal greed and ability to have access to “wealthy and powerful people”.
Just last week, Trump tweeted insults at Cohen, calling him “weak” and “not very smart”.
