Who is Christopher Wray, Trump's Appointee to FBI Director

On June 7th, 2017, Donald Trump announced Christopher Wray as his pick to replace fired FBI director James Comey. A graduate of Yale, Wray first began his legal career as an assistant U.S. attorney in Georgia. He served as a senior official in the Department of Justice, and then went on serve as a high ranking official in the Justice Department's Criminal Division.

As a lawyer, Wray took heat for representing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie during the infamous bridgegate

Wray certainly has the experience the prestigious FBI Director post calls for. In his confirmation hearing in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he was pressed on several questions about the ongoing Donald Trump Jr. email scandal and the firing of James Comey. Though Wray gave very unclear answers in response to questions about the secret meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian intel, he did answer a hypothetical question involving it, telling Senator Lindsey Graham, "Senator, I think you’d want to consult with some good legal advisers before you do that. . . . I think it would be wise to let the FBI know.” Wray was also asked about whether he agreed with Trump's denial that Russia was involved in interfering in the election, and remarked, “no reason to doubt the conclusions of the intelligence community."

When asked about Donald Trump's accusation of the Russia Investigation a being a "political witch hunt", Wray answered that he did not believe the special counsel investigating the campaign's ties to Russia was on a witch hunt. Since Wray was under oath, it is quite telling that Donald Trump's own nominee doesn't seem to buy Trump's cries that he is being unfairly investigated and critiqued for possible collusion, or ties, to Russia.
