The Black Panther Soundtrack Slaps.
By: Kayla Pasacreta
I can't think of any other word to describe the brilliantly composed, blackity-black Black Panther Soundtrack other than SLAPS!
In perfect timing for Black History Month, Kendrick Lamar and Black Panther are making innovative strides in how we experience films. The soundtrack, curated and executive produced by Kendrick Lamar, features rich sounds from artists like SZA, Future, Jorja Smith, Zacari, Khalid, The Weeknd, Vince Staples, Ab-Soul...the list goes on. The 14-song soundtrack seamlessly brings together many vocal points of black music and culture; serving as a merger of hip-hop and R&B. Whether it's through rap crossover songs like "Oops", the funky tune of "Redemption", or the soulful R&B sounds of Jorja Smith on "I Am", the soundtrack is a magnificent exploration of music, sounds, and we expect it will fit the movie perfectly. Kendrick isn't featured on every song, but his unique sound rings through throughout. Kendrick Lamar's delivery and versatility on the album seals his own spot as a black superhero. Seriously, Kendrick doesn't miss.
