Florida Shatters Their Records for Most Coronavirus Cases in One Day With 4,000 New Cases Overnight

After states started to re-open after Memorial Day, many states across the country have started to see a spike in coronavirus cases. Florida reported another 3, 822 new cases Friday, breaking their Thursday record of 3,207. Despite the daily spikes in cases the state has seen, they have not slowed down their re-opening process and have made it optional for residents to wear masks. According to CBS News, scientists at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania released a concerning report about the nationwide spike in cases:
The record-high coronavirus illness rate in Florida comes as some parts of the state report zero available ICU beds, and as scientists warn Florida has “all the markings” to become the new epicenter for the pandemic.
Florida Governor Ron De Santis stated Wednesday that he will not put the state under any new lockdowns. “‘We’re not rolling back,’ DeSantis said during a news conference when asked whether he would consider stopping some reopening efforts.
