If you’ve been on social media in the past 24 hours (as any good millennial should), you may have noticed buzz around Oprah Winfrey as a potential presidential prospect for the 2020 election. Wait, let's roll this back to the beginning.

Last night at the 75th annual Golden Globes, comedian Seth Meyers reminisced on a joke that he said at the 2011 White House Correspondents dinner where he joked about Trump being unqualified to be president. Standing in front of Oprah last night, Meyers said: “Some have said that night convinced him to run. So, if that’s true, I just want to say: Oprah, you will never be president! You do not have what it takes.” The whole room appropriately burst into claps and cheers. Later that night Oprah accepted The Cecil B. DeMille Award, which is given to someone who has "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” She is the first African American Woman to accept this award.

During Her passionate acceptance speech she spoke about the #MeToo movement as well as race. "At this moment, there are some little girls watching as I become the first black woman to be given this award” Winfrey said Sunday. She went on to say:

“I want all the girls watching here now to know that a new day is on the horizon. And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say, “Me too” again.”

Many speculate that this was not only an acceptance speech but a start to her potential campaign. According to sources, Oprah has not thrown Madam President out of the question. “It’s up to the people,” long time partner Stedman Graham, told the Los Angeles Times. “She would absolutely do it.”

In 1999, Trump himself stated how great of a candidate Oprah would be in an interview with Larry King. In fact, Trump went as far to say his first pick for VP would be Oprah. “I’ll tell ya, she’s really a great woman, though. She is a terrific woman. She’s somebody that’s very special.” Of course, once Trump starts to feel any pressure from an Oprah candidacy, he will change his tune, as he always does.

Since the era of Trump there have been several celebs to come out stating they wouldn't mind taking on the political world such as, Kanye West, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Tim Tebow. So, Would you like to see another celebrity as a presidential candidate? or should we stick to the politicians this 2020 election? America it's on you, but lets do a better job next time around.
