Trump Doesn't Wait for the Facts in London, is Called out by London Officials

By: Stacy Omosa

Today at 8:20 am, a terrorist attack occurred at the height of the morning rush in London’s Parson Green Train Station that injured around 40 people and killed 4 people. As sad as this event is, and how countless world leaders offered their condolences, the United States just messed up.

Instead of the United States giving compassion and words of encouragement, President Donald trump utilized the attack against London as propaganda for his own policies.

In a serious of early morning tweets, Donald Trump stated, "Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive. The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!"

Trump tweeted this at a time where the attack had not been fully investigated, and little information was offered to the public or known to security agencies. The president purely speculated intelligence about the perpetrators to justify the use of his travel ban. His ban aimed solely to prevent Muslim refugees and immigrants from legally entering the country.

Prime Minister Theresa May was asked about Trump’s tweet, and responded by saying it is, "never helpful for anyone to speculate on what is an ongoing investigation." She is right, it is never helpful to speculate and put out information that may influence the public. Unfortunately, America does not have a helpful president.

Here at the Executive Tea, we send our condolences to the people of London and to those 29 injured.
