Donald Trump and the Attorney General he picked are publicly at odds. Again. As public pressure and criticism against Trump mounts in light of the Russia Investigation, so do Trump's attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions. In a tweet this morning, Trump called Sessions "DISGRACEFUL".
Sessions issued a statement in response to Trump's tweet:
This is far from the first time Donald Trump has publicly feuded with Jeff Sessions. The beef particularly heightened in July, when Sessions recused (removed) himself from the Russia Investigation, a move that Trump was not in favor of. Then, just a few days later, Trump criticized Sessions for not looking into "Crooked Hillary's" crimes. More recently, Trump has taken to asking why Jeff Sessions has not been more active in investigating "crimes" done by the Obama Administration. The answer just might be that unlike the Trump Administration, the Obama Administration wasn't down with the whole scandal and collusion thing.
Trump is referencing the FISA warrant issued against Carter Page, which many House Republicans saw as an abuse of the FBI's surveillance tools. DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who was appointed during the Obama Administration, has continued to oversee the FISA investigation and investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails.
