Robert Mueller is asking for no prison time for former national security advisor Michael Flynn, citing his 'substantial assistance' in the Russia probe. Flynn cooperated with Mueller's team for 19 interviews. Mueller said he provided 'first-hand detail' about his dealings with Russian official."The defendant provided firsthand information about the content and context of interactions between the transition team and Russian government officials," Mueller stated in the memo.

Mueller is asking for the minimum federal penalty for Flynn, "Given the defendant's substantial assistance and other considerations set forth below, a sentence at the low end of the guideline range — including a sentence that does not impose a term of incarceration — is appropriate and warranted," Flynn was the first former member of the Trump Administration to be charged in relation to the Mueller probe, and the 5th member connected to the campaign to be charged. Flynn lasted just 24 days in the Trump Administration. He resigned shortly after media reports revealed he lied and misled the Trump Administration about his contacts with Russian ambassadors. He also lied in his security clearance, – claiming he received no income from foreign officials (when he did in fact, receive over $40K from a Putin financed television network).

The important part of Mueller's investigation is getting to who knew what and when they knew it. Was the Trump administration really in the dark about interactions the highest-profile members of the administration had with Russians?
