If you thought Republicans were the only party plagued by sexual assault allegations, think again! Democratic Congressman John Conyers has been in hot water the past few days, following allegations from two former staffers that he sexually harassed them. Conyers has denied the claims, but his office spent $27,000 to settle a suit from a woman who said she repeatedly had to ignore Conyers' sexual advances. This Sunday, Conyers announced he is stepping down from his high-ranking post as top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee.

Conyers is a congressman from Michigan and has held his seat since 1965. A founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Conyers has a powerful status in the Democratic Party. Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi defended Conyers in an interview with Chuck Todd, hailing him an "icon" who deserves due process. Pelosi has been criticized for her defense of Conyers; considering she did not use the same logic in condemning Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who is a Republican.

The House Ethics Committee has opened an investigation into Conyers.
