This Friday, the Trump administration rolled back an Obama-era mandate that required employers and companies to include birth control coverage in their health insurance plans. According to BBC, "The rule allows employers and insurers to decline to provide birth control if doing so violates their religious beliefs or"moral convictions." Trump health care officials argued their decision was made because contraception "encourages risky sexual behavior". 

Obamacare ensured that women could have access to free birth control, without having to worry about paying a co-pay from insurance companies. This feature was a key aspect of Obamacare coverage, and people are not happy Trump officials are at work to limit women's access to birth control. The rule will begin to take place immediately and is expected to effect the fifty-five million women who rely on receiving birth control without having to pay a co-pay.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the National Women's Law Center, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Americans United for Separation of State have all filed lawsuits to sue the government for rolling back on the Obama mandate, citing it will put millions of women in a bind and unconstitutionally will restrict their access to contraception.
