Widow of Soldier Speaks: Insists Congressman Wilson's Recollection Of Call With Trump is '100% Correct'

Today, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson went on ABC'S "Good Morning America" to share her side of the story following the feud between Trump and Congresswoman Frederica Wilson. Last Tuesday, Wilson shared that in Trump's call to the family of Sgt. La Johnson, he exhibited appallingly insensitive behavior. According to Wilson, Trump told the family Johnson, "must have known what he signed up for, but I guess it hurts anyways."

This morning, Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Johnson, shared her recollection of the call. Appearing extremely composed and strong, Johnson spoke eloquently about her late husband and his commitment to the military. Johnson confirmed, "Whatever Ms. Wilson said was not fabricated,” and continued, “What she said was 100-percent correct. The phone was on speakerphone. Why would we fabricate something like that?” Johnson shared that the phone call had her in tears, due to the President's insensitive comments and his inability to even remember her husband's name.

Johnson, who is pregnant and due in January, also shared that she has not been given much information about what exactly happened and went wrong in Niger. On October 4th, she was alerted that Johnson was missing, and was later told his status was changed to killed. She has yet to see her husband's body.

Trump took to Twitter to dispute the claims - essentially calling a new military widow a liar. Regardless of what side you believe, such a dispute between a military widow and a president is unprecedented. When asked if she had anything further to say to Trump, Johnson declined.
