We have a good old fashioned rap beef brewing, folks! Just in case you live under a rock, rappers Pusha T and Drake have been taking lethal shots at each other on their songs for the past couple of days with their tracks "Infared" and "Duppy Freestyle". So you all must be wondering, how did this beef even begin?? 

Don't worry, we got you!!

To understand this beef, we have to look DEEP into the past first. The original beef was between Pusha T and Lil Wayne, Young Money CEO and Drake's mentor in the rap game. Pusha T and Lil Wayne had been dissing each other on songs for years, but it all came to a peak in 2012 when Pusha T dropped his single "Exodus 23: 1" that included a slight Young Money diss:

"Throwing that flag up, running 'round, you hot shit/Taking half of everything you get."

“Contract all fucked, I guess that means you all fucked up / You signed to one n***a that signed to another n***a / That’s signed to three n***as, now that’s bad luck.” 

Lil Wayne responded with a diss track called "Ghoulish" where he directly addressed Pusha T ruthlessly and typed this infamous tweet as promo: 

Since then, the Lil Wayne and Pusha T beef has cooled down due to Wayne stating that he has no issue with Pusha T and has moved on from it via an interview in 2012. As a result, his loyal mentee Drake picked up the beef!

At first Drake and Pusha T's beef started out as subtle subliminal messages on songs. In 2013, Drake first took shots at Pusha T on his Nothing Was The Same opener “Tuscan Leather,”

"I'm just as famous as my mentor, but that's still the boss, don't get sent for/ Get hyper on tracks and jump in front of a bullet you wasn't meant for."

Pusha T responded to Drake's subliminal three years later in his song, "HGTV Freestyle":

“The talk don’t match the leather, The swag don’t match the sweater./It’s too far gone when the realest ain’t real, I walk amongst the clouds, so your ceilings ain’t real  /  These n***s Call of Duty ’cause they killings ain’t real, with a questionable pen so the feeling ain’t real.” 

In 2017, Drake came through with a bold response, on More Life's "Two Birds, One Stone".

"But really it’s you with all the drug dealer stories / That’s gotta stop, though / You made a couple chops and now you think you Chapo / If you ask me though you ain’t lining in the trunk with kilos / You bagging weed watching Pacino with all your n****s / Like “this is what we need to be on,” but never went live / You middleman in this shit, you were never those guys / I can tell cause I look most of you dead in your eyes / And you be trying to tell that story for the rest of your lives”

Now, fast forward to 2018, on May 25, Pusha T fired back on his new album Daytona. On the track "Infared", Pusha raps that Drake uses a ghostwriter named Quentin.

"It was written like Nas but it came from Quentin / At the mercy of a game where the codes is missing"

"The only rapper sold more dope than me was Eazy-E / How could you ever right these wrongs / When you don’t even write your songs / But let us all play along / We all know what niggas for real been waiting on"

Drake wasted NO time responding to the shots on "Infared", he quickly dropped the track "Duppy Freestyle" in response to Pusha T in LESS than 24 hours. The 6 God was not playing around this time. Drake comes for Pusha T and his mentor Kayne West on the track, it is NOT pretty!

"What do you really think of the n***a that’s making your beats? / I’ve done things for him I thought he never would need / Father had to stretch his hands out and get it from me" 

"But you act like you sold drugs for Escobar in the 80's / I had a microphone of yours, but then the signature faded / I think that pretty much resembes what's been happening lately / Please believe your demise will be televised, yeah / And as for Q man, I changed his life a couple times

"Must've had your Infrared wrong, now your head in the beam / Yall are the spitting image of whatever jealously breeds / Don’t push me when I'm in album mode / You not even top 5 as far as your label goes"

“Tell ’Ye we got an invoice comin’ to you/ Considering we just sold another 20 for you.”

The same day, Pusha T wasted no time responded to the invoice line on Twitter….

Drake immediately responded by posting a photo on Instagram of an invoice requesting Pusha’s manager and Def Jam Executive VP & Head Of A&R Steve Victor to pay $100,000 in exchange for “promotional assistance and career reviving.”

Whew! Okay, so that’s the full timeline of this flaming hot rap beef!!! We cant wait to see what happens next!! Could a Pusha T response be in the works? Only time will tell!
