We All Miss The Old Kanye...Recapping Ye's Support of Trump

Kanye has always been known to not give #AF about ruffling a few feathers, and his Wednesday tweets about Trump proved that Kanye will pretty much never care about what any one else thinks. Ye's relationship with Donald Trump first came into question following his December 2017 meeting with y'all's POTUS at the Trump Tower in New York City. Kanye later said that the pair have been friends for a while, and met to discuss "multicultural issues". Yesterday, Kanye took to upping his support of the controversial President with multiple tweets and MAGA hat-posing.

A long way from his selfies with Hillary.

To make things even weirder, Donald Trump retweeted Ye's praise. Can 2018 get any more bizarre?

Conservative Twitter also chimed in, clearly pleased at Kanye's approval of the MAGA movement.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter dragged Ye for his random Trump-love fest. Marketing ploy for his new album or not, Kanye's tweets in support of a highly controversial, and arguably problematic, President are disappointing. For a Chicago rapper who many first loved after his bold '09 drag of George Bush, "George Bush doesn't care about black people", Kanye's new political thought is a tough pill to swallow.

Despite all of the disappointment, the Trump-Yeezy union should be no surprise. Both of the men are so called "geniuses" who often critique mainstream way of thinking. Kanye has changed a great deal since his "College Dropout" days. Ah, we will forever remember the Kanye who rapped lines like, "Things we buy to cover up what's inside / 'Cause they make us hate ourself and love they wealth" and "a white man get paid off of all of that." I think most Kanye fans can agree that the old Kanye is dead and gone, and there is very little room to keep making excuses to justify Yeezy's behavior.

It's officially time to cancel Kanye.
